Evidence in Motion, LLC brings you a new app...(www.evidenceinmotion.com)

Low back pain is one of the most common reasons behind seeking health care services. Despite all the resources that have been allocated to improve the interventions available for low back pain, it continues to be a significant health care problem.

Spinal Manipulation receives one of the highest recommendations among all non-pharmacological interventions from the American College of Physicians and American Pain Society for the management of low back pain (Chou, Ann Int Med, 2007).

It is a low risk, non-invasive, simple and easy procedure to offer patients (by credentialed providers with appropriate training). At the same time it offers a significant improvement in outcomes if performed on the right patient. If a patient meets the outlined criteria, they should be referred to receive this treatment.

And who might those patients be? This app provides all the information associated with the lumbar manipulation treatment based classification system to include the variables that increase a patients chance of success, which questions to ask, which procedures to perform in the examination, and how to perform the lumbar manipulation. Input different variables into the equation and see what the post-test probability of success with manipulation is.

There are embedded videos, written instructions, and references with links to PUBMed** that support all data presented.

All the tools to understand and use the Lumbar Manipulation Clinical Prediction Rule associated with the Manipulation Treatment Based Classification System are presented here.

Although patients and other individuals may want to look at this app for information about how their back pain is currently managed, it was designed for applicable health care providers and is not a substitute for advice or management from a licensed health care provider.

** PUBMed LINKS REQUIRE AN ACTIVE NETWORK CONNECTION.
